Southwest Airlines Offers $39 Fare

Southwest Airlines today announced a fare of $39 in all Intra-California markets with travel good through March 12, 1999.

"Once again, we are making it convenient and affordable for Customers to travel within California," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest Airlines vice president of marketing. "Whether for business or pleasure, Southwest Airlines Customers can travel within the state on the best deal."

Tickets must be purchased within one day of making reservations and at least seven days before departure. Fares are each way with roundtrip purchase and apply to scheduled service only. Seats are limited and won't be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times and holiday periods such as Spring Break. Tickets are nonrefundable but may be applied if unused toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest Airlines. Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fares do not include airport taxes of up to $12 roundtrip or a $2 per segment fee. A stayover of at least one night is required.

Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV), the fifth largest domestic carrier in terms of Customers boarded, currently serves 52 cities in 26 states. Based in Dallas, Southwest currently operates more than 2,350 flights a day with a fleet of 280 Boeing 737s with an average age of 8.4 years--one of the youngest pure jet fleets in the domestic airline industry.

Specifically, Southwest serves nine cities in California, including Ontario, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Burbank, Oakland, San Francisco, Sacramento, and San Jose.
