Southwest Airlines Offers $99 Fare on Nonstop Service

Fare accents nonstop service between Baltimore/Washington and Phoenix, San Antonio

Southwest Airlines is giving travelers the chance to get away at a price that's a steal: $99 one-way on its upcoming nonstop service between Baltimore/Washington and Phoenix and between Baltimore/Washington and San Antonio, which debuts Dec. 7, 1998. The special fare is good for travel through Dec. 17.

"With only a one-day advance purchase, this fare makes our new nonstop service out of Baltimore/Washington even more convenient," said Joyce Rogge, Southwest's vice president of marketing.

This offer is valid on nonstop flights only. Tickets must be purchased one day in advance of travel and within one day of making reservations.

The fare is valid for one-way travel, and no overnight stay is required. Seats are limited and will not be available on some flights that operate during peak travel times.

Tickets are nonrefundable, but if unused, may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest Airlines. Fares are subject to change until ticketed, and any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fare does not include airport taxes of $3 each way or a $2 federal excise tax each way.

When Southwest inaugurates the new nonstop service, Southwest will have seven daily flights from Baltimore/Washington to Phoenix and five flights from Phoenix to Baltimore/Washington (including three nonstops each way). Additionally, Southwest will have seven daily flights from Baltimore/Washington to San Antonio and six daily flights from San Antonio to Baltimore/Washington (including one nonstop each way).

Southwest started service from Baltimore/Washington International Airport on Sept. 15, 1993 with five daily nonstop departures to Cleveland and three daily nonstop departures to Chicago Midway. The airline will have 74 daily flights out of Baltimore/Washington to 18 nonstop destinations with the additions to service on Dec. 7.

Southwest Airlines was ranked the best overall airline among the ten largest domestic carriers in the November 1997 issue of Money magazine. Money rated Southwest number one in safety, Customer Service, ontime arrival, and baggage handling.
