During the Labor Day holiday, from Thursday through Monday, the Southwest Team operated more than 19,000 flights and achieved a flight completion factor of almost 99%. The airline also welcomed more than 2.4 million travelers with Southwest Hospitality during the five-day travel period.
In addition to Labor Day, the Southwest Team achieved outstanding operational performance on peak, holiday weekends this summer by posting outstanding flight completion factors during both Memorial Day and the Fourth of July holidays. The summer performance was bolstered by the more than 9,900 new Employees hired this year, along with the planning that took place months in advance to align operational strategies, staffing, and network coordination.
Southwest operated its largest-ever peak-season operation of more than 4,300 flights per day this summer while serving 121 airports across 11 countries. As the summer travel season ends, we, once again, express our appreciation to Southwest's Customers and Employees for their continued loyalty and support.
