Southwest Airlines Names New Provisioning Manager for Sacramento

Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) recently named Trey Newman as its new manager of provisioning at Sacramento International Airport. In his new position, Newman will supervise a group of 21 provisioning agents as they restock more than 60 daily flights with refreshments and supplies.

"I am looking forward to this new challenge as Southwest Airlines continues to grow," says Newman. "Sacramento is a great city!"

During his career at Southwest Airlines, Newman has been a prominent leader in the provisioning arena. He started working for the airline in 1990 as a Houston provisioning agent, quickly climbing the ladder to serve as provisioning supervisor in both Las Vegas and Houston. Newman also worked as a provisioning instructor in Dallas and helped open provisioning stations in several cities throughout Southwest's system. Newman's most recent responsibility was assistant provisioning manager in Oakland.

Newman is a graduate of Southwest's Manager in Training program, a course designed to help prepare individuals for Southwest leadership roles.

"Newman's extensive experience, strong work ethic, and dedication will make him a valuable asset to the Sacramento provisioning team," said Scott Halfmann, Southwest's regional director of provisioning.

The Sacramento provisioning station is one of 19 in the Southwest Airlines system. Sacramento received Southwest's Provisioning Base of the Year Award in 1992 and 1994, a tribute to its successful operations.

In 1991 Southwest Airlines started service from Sacramento International with 12 daily nonstop departures to Burbank and Ontario. The airline currently offers 61 daily nonstop departures to Burbank, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Ontario, Phoenix, Portland, San Diego, and Seattle. Southwest employs 258 people in Sacramento and more than 30,000 Employees nationwide.
