Southwest Airlines Reports October Traffic
Southwest Airlines Co. announced today that the Company flew 2,683.8 million revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in October 1998, a 7.7 percent increase over the 2,491.9 million flown in October 1997. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 5.2 percent to 4,156.3 million from the October 1997 level of 3,950.3 million. The load factor for the month was 64.6 percent, up 1.5 points from 1997.
For the ten months ended October 31, 1998, Southwest flew 26,271.3 million RPMs, compared with the 23,605.3 million recorded for the same period of 1997, an increase of 11.3 percent. Available seat miles increased 6.7 percent to 39,419.3 million from the 1997 level of 36,941.3 million. The year-to-date load factor was 66.6 percent, up 2.7 points from the same period last year.
