Celebrating Mrs. Jane Smith’s 104th Birthday
The Southwest Airlines Team first met Mrs. Jane Smith when she flew from San Francisco (SFO) to Las Vegas (LAS) to celebrate her 100th birthday in 2018. To celebrate, our Team serenaded her at the gates with “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder and had all the Passengers on the flight sing “Happy Birthday to You” to her.
Our Southwest Employees in SFO, Bryan Dal Porto and Nisha Chinn have since made friends with her and her family and we would communicate to the Station when Mrs. Smith would be traveling to celebrate her special day. This year, Bryan and Nisha went to work ensuring Mrs. Smith would feel special from start to finish of her travel experience. They printed out certificates to have the Agents hold up to welcome her and celebrate her as she passed through SFO. They worked with Team LAS to ensure they were ready to welcome this special lady when she arrived at her destination. They really wanted to roll out the red carpet, as the pandemic had prohibited Mrs. Smith from traveling the past two years. Mrs. Smith was ready to take her birthday trip to LAS this year on March 24, 2022, but unfortunately, she fell ill two days before the trip and had to cancel. Well, Bryan and Nisha decided to take the party to her! They took her a cake, orchid, and, of course, some SWA swag. Bryan and Nisha are two shining examples of the LUV Southwest has for our Customers and how “the little” matters so much.
