Southwest Airlines Reports November Traffic Up 23.9 Percent

Southwest Airlines Co. announced today that the Company flew 3.1 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in November 1999, a 23.9 percent increase from the 2.5 billion RPMs flown in November 1998. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 13.9 percent to 4.5 billion from the November 1998 level of 4.0 billion. The load factor for the month was 69.8 percent, up 5.7 points from 1998.

For the eleven months ended November 30, 1999, Southwest flew 33.4 billion RPMs, compared with the 28.8 billion RPMs recorded for the same period of 1998, an increase of 16.0 percent. Available seat miles increased 10.9 percent to 48.1 billion from the 1998 level of 43.4 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 69.4 percent, up 3.0 points from the same period last year.
