Southwest Airlines Extends Holiday Fare Sale Into the New Year; Internet-Only Fares as Low as $39 One-Way

Jingle is the sound of extra money in the pockets of Southwest Customers as Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) extends its systemwide fare sale with Internet-only airfares as low as $39 one-way with a 14-day advance purchase. Fares range from $39 to $149 one- way and vary by destination and day of travel. "This is a time when our Customers want to spend money on other things, so we are making Southwest's low fares even lower," says Joyce Rogge, Southwest's senior vice president of marketing. "We are extending the fare sale due to popular demand, even on our most popular routes."

The following are examples of the special fares:
* $39 one-way fares are available between Oakland and San Diego and between Chicago Midway and Indianapolis
* $59 one-way fares are available between Seattle/Tacoma and Sacramento and between Houston Hobby and New Orleans.
* $79 one-way fares are available between Baltimore/Washington and Ft. Lauderdale, between Phoenix and Seattle, and between Phoenix and Portland.
* $89 one-way fares are available between Cleveland and Phoenix and between Cleveland and Las Vegas.
* $99 one-way fares are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between Chicago Midway and Little Rock. $105 one-way fares are available Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays between Chicago Midway and Little Rock
* $99 one-way fares are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays between Houston Hobby and Orlando. $134 one-way fares are available Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays between Houston Hobby and Orlando.

Fare Rules

Fares are available one-way and are combinable with all other fares. When combining fares, all ticketing restrictions apply. The fares are available for purchase today through Jan. 16, 2005, and are valid for travel through the end of Southwest's published schedule (currently June 6, 2005). Florida blackout dates apply March 17, 2005, through April 25, 2005. Tickets must be purchased at least 14 days before departure. Seats are limited. Fares may vary by flight and day of week and will not be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times. Fares do not include a $3.10 federal segment tax per takeoff and landing (the segment tax will increase to $3.20 on Jan. 1, 2005). Fares do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges (PFC) of up to $9 one-way and a U.S. government-imposed September 11th Security Fee of up to $5 one-way. Fares are subject to change until ticketed. Tickets are nonrefundable but may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest Airlines. Fares are valid on published, scheduled service only and are not available through the Group Desk. Any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fares are not necessarily common rated in Houston, the Bay Area, or the Los Angeles Basin. Orange County's John Wayne Airport is not included in this sale.
