Southwest Airlines Reports November Traffic

Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced today that the Company flew 3.6 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in November 2001, approximately the same RPMs flown in November 2000. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 6.9 percent to 5.5 billion from the November 2000 level of 5.1 billion. The load factor for the month was 65.3 percent, compared to 70.7 percent for the same period last year.

For the eleven months ended November 30, 2001, Southwest flew 40.9 billion RPMs, compared to the 38.7 billion RPMs recorded for the same period of 2000, an increase of 5.8 percent. Available seat miles increased 9.5 percent to 59.8 billion from the 2000 level of 54.6 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 68.5 percent, compared to 70.9 percent for the same period last year.
