'Right to Fly' Petition Drive

'Right to Fly' Petition Drive

DALLAS, TX - October 18, 2005 - Today, Southwest Airlines Employees sent a Texas-sized message that "Wright is Wrong" to Texas Senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and John Cornyn, and to the entire Texas congressional delegation in Washington. "Southwest Airlines wants to show our Texas leaders that there is support throughout Texas to repeal the Wright Amendment," said Colleen Barrett (pictured here), president of Southwest Airlines. "The economic prosperity of the entire state should be their first priority, not just the concerns of one airport." Uniformed Southwest Employees delivered the news in Washington today that more than 250,000 Texans want the Wright Amendment repealed. The packets they delivered are the result of the "Right to Fly" petition drive kicked off by Southwest Airlines Employees on June 27, 2005. "I would like to thank our entire Employee group for the passion they've exhibited toward this worthwhile effort," Barrett said. "I could not be more proud of their tireless Warrior SPIRIT."
